We take Emerald Mountain work across the whole town, the Emerald Mountain Expressway through Redland Road, and we cross into Millbrook and Wetumpka on the same trips.
A lot of what we see in Elmore County comes down to age. Houses built decades ago have solid frames with tired hardware; houses built recently have sound hardware in frames that are still settling.

Summers here are long and genuinely hot, and afternoon thunderstorms arrive most days in July. Anything that relies on a rubber seal ages fast under that combination of UV and heat.
Windows are designed to collect water in the frame and drain it out through weep holes, and blocked weeps during heavy rain is the standard reason water appears on an interior sill.
Sun breaks down the edge seal of insulated glass units and the vinyl in window weatherstrip, which is why south and west facing windows fog and leak air years before north facing ones do.
We see the pattern often enough across Elmore County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Emerald Mountain: heavy rainfall and sun and heat load — typical of the River Region.

- Identify the window type and manufacturerBalances, operators and hardware are specific, and getting the right part is most of the job.
- Operate it slowly and watchWhere the effort rises through the travel tells us which component has failed, often before anything comes apart. Openings here get assessed for drainage as well as alignment, since summer storms find any weakness at the sill.
- Check the drainageBlocked weep slots put water on the sill and into the wall, and they are behind a lot of what gets blamed on the glass.
- Be clear where replacement is rightWhere a frame is rotted through or a unit is obsolete, we say so plainly instead of selling a repair that will not hold.
- Reseal properlyNew weatherstrip and glazing seals so the window performs as it should.
- Test operation and lock engagementThe window should open, close and lock without force.

What a window repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- wood repair and rot splicing where the frame is damaged
- the type of window and whether replacement hardware is still available
- commercial glazing and access requirements
- glass unit size, tempering and low-E coatings
- screen work alongside the window repair

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Window repair in Emerald Mountain: questions we get asked
My window will not stay open. What is broken?
The balances. On a double hung window they counterweight the sash, and when one fails the sash drops. It is a replaceable part and far cheaper than a new window.
Can you replace glass without replacing the whole window?
Yes, in nearly all cases. Broken panes, cracked glass and failed insulated units are all replaceable in the existing frame.
How long does window repair take?
Balance, hardware and screen work is usually under an hour per window. Glass unit replacement takes a measuring visit and then a fitting visit once the unit is made.
Can painted-shut windows be opened again?
Usually yes, with care. It takes patience to cut the paint seal without damaging the sash or the stops, but old windows in Emerald Mountain homes are often perfectly serviceable once freed.
Water is coming in at my window sill. What causes that?
Usually blocked weep holes. Windows are designed to collect water in the frame and drain it out, and when those drains clog it backs up and comes inside instead.
Why will my window not lock anymore?
The sash has dropped or shifted, so the lock and keeper no longer meet. Forcing it can break the lock, and the actual fix is usually alignment rather than new hardware.
