Our territory takes in Lincoln and the communities around it in Talladega County, so calls from the US-78 corridor, Magnolia Street and out by Talladega Superspeedway all get the same response.
Lincoln has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Lincoln. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The screen door falls out of the trackWorn screen rollers or a bent top rail that no longer holds the panel in the head channel.
- The storm door will not stay closedFailed closer or latch on a hinged storm door.
- The mesh has a shiny worn stripe near the handleAbrasion from contact with the track or jamb, meaning the frame is no longer running true.
- The storm door blew open and bent the armNo wind chain fitted, or a failed hold-open washer on the closer.
- The mesh is torn or has holesStraightforward rescreen, and worth doing before the tear spreads.
- The storm door closer has torn out of the frameWind caught the door; the mounting needs repair and a wind chain fitted.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Why screen door repair fails in the Appalachian foothills
The foothills get real cold snaps and real heat, and the ground moves with them. Rocky, uneven fill under older slabs means door frames rarely stay perfectly square for a decade.
Rain drives grit and organic debris into the screen track, and that debris packs down under the rollers and holds moisture against the frame.
When the door frame the screen track is attached to moves, the screen track goes out of parallel with it, and the panel that used to slide fine starts binding at one end of its travel.
We see the pattern often enough across Talladega County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Lincoln: heavy rainfall and soil movement — typical of the Appalachian foothills.

- Work out whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that jams is often a track problem. Replacing rollers in a damaged track fixes nothing.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Match the mesh to the exposureOn a sun-facing opening, standard fibreglass will be brittle within a couple of seasons, so we specify accordingly.
- Rescreen with correct tensionEven tension and properly seated spline so the mesh does not sag or pull out of the channel.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting. In the foothills we check exposure on each elevation, since a door on the weather side ages at a completely different rate to one that is sheltered.
- Test the full travelThe door should move with one finger, latch cleanly and stay in the track.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Lincoln
Pricing on screen door repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- storm door hardware such as closers and latches
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Lincoln.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Lincoln: questions we get asked
My storm door blew open and broke. Can it be repaired?
Usually yes: the closer and its mounting take the damage. We repair the mounting and fit a wind chain so the next gust does not do the same thing.
My screen mesh has gone brittle and crumbles. What happened?
UV exposure. Screens on the south and west sides of a house in Lincoln take a lot of sun, and standard fiberglass mesh eventually degrades. Solar mesh lasts longer and cuts heat at the same time.
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Lincoln summers.
What mesh should I use if I have dogs?
Pet-resistant mesh, which is a heavier vinyl-coated polyester, and often a pet grille across the lower section. Standard fiberglass will not survive a dog that pushes against it.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Lincoln the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
Do you repair storm doors as well as screens?
Yes, including closers, latches, sweeps, hinges and glass or screen inserts. Storm door closers that have torn out of the frame after a gust are one of the most common calls.
