We service every part of Livingston, including Downtown Livingston and the university district, and the nearby Sumter County towns like York and Moundville.
Between the established parts of Livingston and the newer subdivisions, we see two different kinds of failure: worn-out frames on one side of town and worn-out hardware on the other.

The wet winter and dry late-summer cycle here is severe enough that a door adjusted perfectly in February can bind badly by September.
A patio door sits in the widest opening in the house, which makes it the most sensitive thing in the building to foundation movement, and a frame out of square by a small amount produces a door that binds badly.
Patio door sills catch a lot of water and rely entirely on their weep holes to get rid of it, and heavy rain plus blocked weeps is the standard recipe for water on the floor and rusted-out roller assemblies.
None of it is a reason to replace a door. It is a reason to use the right parts and set the door up correctly in the first place.
Local factors we account for in Livingston: soil movement and heavy rainfall — typical of the Black Belt.

- Establish the age and the makerPatio door hardware is manufacturer-specific. Identifying the system decides whether parts are available or need adapting.
- Check the opening for squareWe measure the reveal at both jambs and the head. A racked opening explains most patio door faults on its own.
- Pull the panel where neededGetting the panel out is the only way to properly assess rollers, the bottom rail and the track.
- Rebuild the moving partsRollers, guides, keepers and weatherstrip get replaced as a set, because replacing one worn item next to five others is false economy.
- Reset alignment and sealThe panel goes back plumb, latches under its own weight and seals along the full perimeter. We note the reveal measurements on clay-soil jobs so that if it shifts again there is a baseline to compare against.
- Test it under loadWe work the door repeatedly and check the lock engages with the panel simply pushed closed.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of patio door repair in Livingston
There is no single price for patio door repair in Livingston, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- the weight of the panels, which drives hardware selection
- whether glass units also need replacing
- the condition of the weatherstrip and threshold
- the type of patio door and how many panels it has
- whether rollers alone or rollers plus track work are needed
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Livingston.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Patio door repair in Livingston: questions we get asked
How do I make my patio door more secure?
A foot bolt or auxiliary lock at the bottom of the panel and anti-lift hardware in the head channel. The factory latch on most patio doors is not much, and in Livingston it is one of the most common weak points on a house.
Why is there a draft down the middle of my patio door?
The interlock weatherstrip where the panels overlap has compressed or gone brittle. That seal does most of the work on the middle of the door and it is replaceable without touching the glass.
Do multi-panel stacking doors need different service?
They need more attention to alignment. With three or four panels, every panel has to be set right or they bind against each other, and the weight per roller is higher than a standard slider.
Can you fix a foggy patio door glass panel?
The seal on the insulated unit has failed and the glass itself needs replacing, but the frame and the rest of the door do not. We replace the glass unit in place.
Do you work on French patio doors as well as sliders?
Yes. Hinged French pairs have a different set of problems, mostly hinge sag, astragal binding and multipoint lock failures, but they are just as repairable.
My patio door rattles in the wind. Is that a problem?
It means the panel is loose in the frame and the weatherstrip is no longer holding it. Beyond the noise, it also means air and water are getting through, and in Sumter County storm season that matters.
