Between Madison proper, the Downtown Madison area and the newer building out toward Clift Farm, we stay busy in Madison County, and Meridianville is close enough that we are often nearby.
Madison has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Madison. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The frame flexes visibly when you pull the handleFailed corner keys, which is why the whole frame is racking rather than sliding.
- Mesh sagging and billowingLoose or dried-out spline that is no longer holding the mesh tight.
- The spline has lifted out of the channel at a cornerShrunken or hardened spline, usually after several summers of UV exposure.
- The storm door closer has torn out of the frameWind caught the door; the mounting needs repair and a wind chain fitted.
- The mesh has a shiny worn stripe near the handleAbrasion from contact with the track or jamb, meaning the frame is no longer running true.
- The frame is bent or racked out of squareUsually from being forced back into a track it was not sitting right in.

North Alabama sits in the heart of Dixie Alley, and the March and November storm seasons drive rain sideways against doors that face west and south.
Wind gets behind a screen panel and pushes it out of the track, and on hinged screen and storm doors a gust catching the door is what tears closers out of the frame.
Humidity corrodes the steel components in screen rollers and rusts the tiny springs in adjusters, so screens seize up and drop out of their track.
We factor that in on every screen door repair job around Toyota Field and the rest of Madison.
Local factors we account for in Madison: storm wind and sustained humidity — typical of the Tennessee Valley.

- Work out whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that jams is often a track problem. Replacing rollers in a damaged track fixes nothing.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Choose the right meshStandard fiberglass, pet-resistant, solar or fine mesh, depending on pets, sun exposure and what insects you are dealing with.
- Rescreen with correct tensionEven tension and properly seated spline so the mesh does not sag or pull out of the channel. Valley jobs get checked across the humidity swing, so we adjust for the range rather than for the day we happen to be there.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting.
- Test the full travelThe door should move with one finger, latch cleanly and stay in the track.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Madison
There is no single price for screen door repair in Madison, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- the size of the panel
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Madison.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Madison: questions we get asked
How long does a rescreen take?
Usually under an hour per panel in Madison. If the frame needs straightening or corner keys replaced, allow a bit longer.
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
My screen mesh has gone brittle and crumbles. What happened?
UV exposure. Screens on the south and west sides of a house in Madison take a lot of sun, and standard fiberglass mesh eventually degrades. Solar mesh lasts longer and cuts heat at the same time.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Madison the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
Can a bent screen frame be straightened?
Sometimes. Light aluminum frames can often be brought back to square, but a badly racked frame is usually better replaced, and a custom panel is not expensive.
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Madison summers.
