Our Ozark customers are spread from Downtown Ozark to the courthouse square and out around the Dale County Courthouse, and we serve the surrounding Dale County communities on the same schedule.
A lot of what we see in Dale County comes down to age. Houses built decades ago have solid frames with tired hardware; houses built recently have sound hardware in frames that are still settling.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Ozark. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- Sun damage has made the mesh brittleUV degradation, common on south and west facing doors.
- The frame flexes visibly when you pull the handleFailed corner keys, which is why the whole frame is racking rather than sliding.
- The storm door blew open and bent the armNo wind chain fitted, or a failed hold-open washer on the closer.
- The latch does not line upThe door has sagged or the frame has moved.
- A retractable screen will not fully retractA fouled or fatigued spring cassette, or debris in the guide channel.
- Mesh sagging and billowingLoose or dried-out spline that is no longer holding the mesh tight.

The Wiregrass gets punishing summer heat and enough tropical rain that hurricane remnants are a normal part of the year, not an exception. Sally and Michael both did door and window damage this far inland.
Ultraviolet light is what kills screen mesh. Standard fiberglass on a south or west exposure goes brittle and crumbles at the edges, which is why solar mesh is worth the difference on sunny elevations.
Wind gets behind a screen panel and pushes it out of the track, and on hinged screen and storm doors a gust catching the door is what tears closers out of the frame.
We see the pattern often enough across Dale County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Ozark: sun and heat load and storm wind — typical of the Wiregrass.

- Check it against the openingWe run the frame through its travel and watch where it tightens, which shows whether the fault is the frame or what it runs in.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Choose the right meshStandard fiberglass, pet-resistant, solar or fine mesh, depending on pets, sun exposure and what insects you are dealing with.
- Rescreen with correct tensionToo tight and the frame bows, too loose and it billows. Even tension is what keeps a screen flat and quiet. Sandy-soil jobs get their running surfaces cleaned out thoroughly, because new rollers fitted into a gritty track will not last a year.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting.
- Test the full travelThe door should move with one finger, latch cleanly and stay in the track.

Every screen door repair call in Dale County is a little different, and the cost follows what the door actually needs:
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- storm door hardware such as closers and latches
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- the size of the panel
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Ozark: questions we get asked
My storm door blew open and broke. Can it be repaired?
Usually yes: the closer and its mounting take the damage. We repair the mounting and fit a wind chain so the next gust does not do the same thing.
Can you make a screen that keeps out the tiny biting insects?
Yes, fine no-see-um mesh. It has a much tighter weave, and in the parts of Dale County near water it is the only thing that actually works against the smallest biters.
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Ozark are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
My screen mesh has gone brittle and crumbles. What happened?
UV exposure. Screens on the south and west sides of a house in Ozark take a lot of sun, and standard fiberglass mesh eventually degrades. Solar mesh lasts longer and cuts heat at the same time.
Do you repair storm doors as well as screens?
Yes, including closers, latches, sweeps, hinges and glass or screen inserts. Storm door closers that have torn out of the frame after a gust are one of the most common calls.
