Robertsdale is part of our regular Baldwin County territory, and between Downtown Robertsdale, the US-90 corridor and the the Baldwin County Fairgrounds area we are here most weeks.
The mix of housing here matters for door work. Older Robertsdale homes have wood frames and hardware worth repairing rather than replacing, while newer construction tends to have vinyl and aluminum systems where the moving parts wear out long before anything else does.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Robertsdale. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- Sun damage has made the mesh brittleUV degradation, common on south and west facing doors.
- The screen track itself is damagedThe channel the screen rides in has been bent or worn.
- The storm door blew open and bent the armNo wind chain fitted, or a failed hold-open washer on the closer.
- Corners have come apartFailed corner keys, which are replaceable.
- The screen door falls out of the trackWorn screen rollers or a bent top rail that no longer holds the panel in the head channel.
- The frame flexes visibly when you pull the handleFailed corner keys, which is why the whole frame is racking rather than sliding.

Between roughly 65 inches of rain a year, near-constant humidity and a June-to-November hurricane season, coastal doors work harder than doors anywhere else in Alabama.
Salt corrodes aluminum screen frames and destroys standard fiberglass mesh, and screens on coastal properties need marine-grade or vinyl-coated mesh if they are going to last more than a couple of seasons.
Wind gets behind a screen panel and pushes it out of the track, and on hinged screen and storm doors a gust catching the door is what tears closers out of the frame.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Robertsdale summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Robertsdale: salt air and storm wind — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895How we approach screen door repair
- Work out whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that jams is often a track problem. Replacing rollers in a damaged track fixes nothing.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered. We check the drainage path on every coastal opening, because wind-driven rain gets in where ordinary rain never would.
- Match the mesh to the exposureOn a sun-facing opening, standard fibreglass will be brittle within a couple of seasons, so we specify accordingly.
- Rescreen with correct tensionToo tight and the frame bows, too loose and it billows. Even tension is what keeps a screen flat and quiet.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting.
- Test the full travelEnd to end, several times, with the latch engaging cleanly at the close.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Robertsdale
What a screen door repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- storm door hardware such as closers and latches
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- the size of the panel
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Robertsdale: questions we get asked
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
Is it worth rescreening or should I just buy a new screen door?
Rescreening is far cheaper and the frame is usually fine. New panels only make sense when the frame is bent beyond straightening or the corners are gone.
Can a bent screen frame be straightened?
Sometimes. Light aluminum frames can often be brought back to square, but a badly racked frame is usually better replaced, and a custom panel is not expensive.
My screen mesh has gone brittle and crumbles. What happened?
UV exposure. Screens on the south and west sides of a house in Robertsdale take a lot of sun, and standard fiberglass mesh eventually degrades. Solar mesh lasts longer and cuts heat at the same time.
Can you make a screen that keeps out the tiny biting insects?
Yes, fine no-see-um mesh. It has a much tighter weave, and in the parts of Baldwin County near water it is the only thing that actually works against the smallest biters.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Robertsdale the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
