Trinity is part of our regular Morgan County territory, and between Old Highway 20, Center Hill and the the Tennessee River industrial corridor area we are here most weeks.
Trinity has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.
Not sure whether it is a repair or a replacement?Describe the symptoms and we will give you a straight answer.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895How conditions in Trinity affect window repair
The Tennessee Valley runs a wider temperature swing than most of Alabama. Summer humidity sits on aluminum and vinyl frames for months, then December through February drops below freezing dozens of nights, and the valley picks up an ice event every few winters.
Windows are designed to collect water in the frame and drain it out through weep holes, and blocked weeps during heavy rain is the standard reason water appears on an interior sill.
Storm wind drives water horizontally against a window and pressurizes the frame cavity, which forces water past seals and through weep systems that work perfectly well in ordinary rain.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Trinity summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Trinity: heavy rainfall and storm wind — typical of the Tennessee Valley.

- Identify the window type and manufacturerBalances, operators and hardware are specific, and getting the right part is most of the job.
- Operate it slowly and watchWhere the effort rises through the travel tells us which component has failed, often before anything comes apart.
- Check the drainageBlocked weep slots put water on the sill and into the wall, and they are behind a lot of what gets blamed on the glass. Valley jobs get checked across the humidity swing, so we adjust for the range rather than for the day we happen to be there.
- Be clear where replacement is rightWhere a frame is rotted through or a unit is obsolete, we say so plainly instead of selling a repair that will not hold.
- Reseal properlyCorrect sealant on a clean, sound surface, and glazing set with the right blocking so the unit is supported rather than pinched.
- Check it holds where you leave itA sash that creeps down after a few minutes has not been fixed, so we leave it open and come back to it before finishing.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of window repair in Trinity
Pricing on window repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- glass unit size, tempering and low-E coatings
- single window versus several in one visit
- wood repair and rot splicing where the frame is damaged
- the type of window and whether replacement hardware is still available
- screen work alongside the window repair
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Trinity.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Window repair in Trinity: questions we get asked
Water is coming in at my window sill. What causes that?
Usually blocked weep holes. Windows are designed to collect water in the frame and drain it out, and when those drains clog it backs up and comes inside instead.
Is it worth repairing old wood windows?
Very often, yes. Old wood windows in Trinity were made from better material than most modern replacements and were designed to be repaired. Rot can be spliced, sashes rebuilt and balances replaced.
My window will not stay open. What is broken?
The balances. On a double hung window they counterweight the sash, and when one fails the sash drops. It is a replaceable part and far cheaper than a new window.
My casement crank spins without moving the window. Why?
The gears in the operator have stripped. It is a common failure and a straightforward replacement as long as we can identify the manufacturer.
Can you replace glass without replacing the whole window?
Yes, in nearly all cases. Broken panes, cracked glass and failed insulated units are all replaceable in the existing frame.
Can painted-shut windows be opened again?
Usually yes, with care. It takes patience to cut the paint seal without damaging the sash or the stops, but old windows in Trinity homes are often perfectly serviceable once freed.
