What size closer do I need?
It depends on the door width, weight and exposure. Exterior doors in Jefferson County also need to handle wind, and an undersized closer on a windy exposure gets destroyed.
Our fire door is propped open. Is that a problem?
Yes, and it is one of the most common code violations we see. A fire door that cannot close and latch is not doing anything. If it gets propped because it is hard to use, that is the problem to solve.
The closer arm on our door is bent. What causes that?
The door was opened past its limit, usually by wind catching it or by someone pushing it hard against a wall. Replacing the arm without adding an overhead stop just means it happens again.
Why is our door so heavy to open now?
