Storm wind pushes hard on the large flat surface of a patio slider and drives the panel against the interlock, which loosens roller adjustment over time and works the panel out of alignment with its latch keeper.

Do you work on the big multi-panel and stacking patio doors?
Yes. Those systems put a lot of weight on each roller and they are less forgiving of a frame that is even slightly out of square, so alignment work matters more on them than on a standard two-panel door.
Do you charge to come look at it?
We talk through the symptoms on the phone first, because a lot of sliding door problems can be narrowed down from a good description and a photo of the bottom rail. Call and we will tell you what we think is going on and what it takes to fix.
Why does my sliding door work fine in winter and stick in summer?
That is a moisture and expansion problem, and it is common across Elmore County. Humid months swell wood and vinyl components and expand the frame slightly, which is enough to close up clearance that was already marginal because of worn rollers.
My door came off the track. Did I break something?
Usually not. A panel comes out of the track when it has dropped low enough that the head channel no longer holds it, which means the rollers were already worn or the adjustment screws backed out. Putting it back without correcting the height means it will happen again.
What does it mean when there is water pooling in the track?
The weep holes that drain the sill are blocked. It is one of the most common causes of water on the floor inside, and it is also one of the easiest things to fix, but if it sits long enough it rusts the roller assemblies out.
Can you fix the lock without fixing the door?
Sometimes, but if the door has settled, a new lock will not line up with the keeper any better than the old one did. We check the panel alignment first, because a lock that will not catch is often a symptom rather than the actual problem.
