My patio door leaks water inside when it rains hard. Why?
Usually blocked weep holes in the sill. The track is designed to collect water and drain it outside, and once those drains clog the water rises to the interior lip and comes in. It is a cheap fix that prevents expensive floor damage.
The threshold on my patio door feels loose. Should I worry?
Yes, look at it soon. A loose threshold usually means water has been working on the sill underneath, and that is how a hardware repair turns into a frame repair.
My patio door rattles in the wind. Is that a problem?
It means the panel is loose in the frame and the weatherstrip is no longer holding it. Beyond the noise, it also means air and water are getting through, and in Chambers County storm season that matters.
How do I make my patio door more secure?
A foot bolt or auxiliary lock at the bottom of the panel and anti-lift hardware in the head channel. The factory latch on most patio doors is not much, and in Valley it is one of the most common weak points on a house.
Do multi-panel stacking doors need different service?
They need more attention to alignment. With three or four panels, every panel has to be set right or they bind against each other, and the weight per roller is higher than a standard slider.
