Our Ladonia customers are spread from the US-80 corridor to Ladonia Drive and out around the Chattahoochee River, and we serve the surrounding Russell County communities on the same schedule.
Ladonia has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

These are the sliding door repair faults we are called out to most often in Ladonia. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The door stops short of the jamb by half an inchDebris packed at the end of the track, or an adjuster screw wound fully out.
- A loud grinding or scraping noiseMetal-on-metal contact where the roller housing has broken through and is riding on the bare track.
- It slides fine one way and binds the otherOne roller of the tandem pair has collapsed, so the panel is running out of level.
- The door bounces or chatters as it movesFlat spots worn onto nylon roller wheels that have been running on grit.
- Cold air pouring in around the edgesCollapsed weatherstrip and worn pile seals, and often a gap the panel misalignment created.
- The interlock at the meeting stile has separatedThe panel has dropped far enough that the stiles no longer engage each other.

Spring storm lines come through fast here and put a lot of wind pressure on doors before the rain even starts.
Dust and grit settle into the bottom track constantly and get packed under the rollers, and once that layer is compacted a vacuum will not lift it and the wheels are riding on abrasive rather than on aluminum.
Long humid stretches keep condensation on the cold aluminum frame of a slider almost continuously, and that moisture rusts roller axles and adjustment screws from the inside, which is why the screws often shear when someone finally tries to adjust the door.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Ladonia summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Ladonia: grit and dust and sustained humidity — typical of east central Alabama.

- Start with the openingBefore the panel comes out we check the header for deflection and the sill for level, because a door cannot run true in an opening that is not.
- Get the glass out of the way safelyA patio panel is heavy and awkward. We take it out properly so the track and the roller housings can actually be seen. In east Alabama we check exposure and seasonal movement together, since most openings here see both and the combination is what causes failures.
- Match the hardwareSliding door rollers are not universal. We identify the manufacturer and panel weight and fit the right tandem assembly rather than the closest thing on the truck.
- Bring the running surface backA pitted or peened track will destroy new rollers in a season, so it gets dressed, capped or replaced before anything goes back in.
- Set it so the lock works without liftingThe height is right when the latch engages with the door simply pushed closed. Anything you have to lift is still misadjusted.
- Check the weep holes before we goA door that slides beautifully but drains badly will still put water on your floor, so the drainage gets cleared and tested.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of sliding door repair in Ladonia
There is no single price for sliding door repair in Ladonia, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- how many panels the system has, since three and four panel doors take longer to set
- whether the fix is rollers only or rollers plus track repair
- how much damage the worn track has taken before the call
- the size and weight of the panel, since heavy insulated glass units need heavier assemblies
- the age of the door and whether replacement hardware is still made for it
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Ladonia.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Sliding door repair in Ladonia: questions we get asked
Can you fix the lock without fixing the door?
Sometimes, but if the door has settled, a new lock will not line up with the keeper any better than the old one did. We check the panel alignment first, because a lock that will not catch is often a symptom rather than the actual problem.
How long does a sliding door repair take?
Most single roller-and-track jobs in Ladonia take one to two hours. Multi-panel doors, doors with damaged tracks that need capping, or units that also need glass work take longer, and we tell you which category yours falls into before we start.
Is there anything I can do to make my sliding door last longer?
Vacuum the track rather than sweeping it, keep silicone rather than oil-based lubricant on the running surface, and check that the weep holes at the bottom of the sill are open. Oil-based products in Ladonia collect dust and grit and turn into grinding paste.
Can a sliding door that has stopped rolling be fixed, or does it need replacing?
Almost always fixed. The frame and glass are usually fine and it is the two small roller assemblies underneath that have failed. Replacing a whole patio door in Ladonia is a several thousand dollar job; rebuilding the rollers and track is a fraction of that and gets you a door that rolls better than it has in years.
My door came off the track. Did I break something?
Usually not. A panel comes out of the track when it has dropped low enough that the head channel no longer holds it, which means the rollers were already worn or the adjustment screws backed out. Putting it back without correcting the height means it will happen again.
Why does my sliding door work fine in winter and stick in summer?
That is a moisture and expansion problem, and it is common across Russell County. Humid months swell wood and vinyl components and expand the frame slightly, which is enough to close up clearance that was already marginal because of worn rollers.
